It's unclear which game will win the title of GOTY at The Game Awards, but a recent Golden Joystick winner could be foreshadowing.

Wukong is easily one of the biggest games of 2024, but its mixed critical consensus makes it a strange GOTY nominee.

Wukong turned out to be one of the surprise hits of the year, and the action-adventure game is currently racking up awards. During an acceptance speech for one of those trophies, the cofounder of the studio behind the game said fans can expect a new surprise next month.

Game Science’s action epic triumphs in public vote

Wukong has teased “some surprises” for later this year. Accepting the Game of the Year award via video message at the Golden Joysticks, Game Science co-founder Feng Ji encouraged people who have yet to buy the smash hit action game to now do so.
