Game 5 of the World Chess Championship between Gukesh and Ding Liren ended in a 40-move draw. But Magnus Carlsen said it was a “win” for world champion Ding Liren.

Gukesh clinched his first win over Liren by outplaying the Chinese on time control in the third round to draw level on points. Both players now have 1.5 points each after the second game ended in a draw on.

I had some advantage which I didn't realise, so there is something to improve," Ding Liren said after game 5 of the Chess World Championship, in which he let Dommaraju Gukesh off the hook by not pushing for a win in a much superior position.
