Opting to bat first, the Proteas were off to a fiery start, when Tony de Zorzi and Ryan Rickelton stitched a 70-run partnership. The wicket of Zorzi started a slide and it went downhill thereafter.

In the first One Day International of three-match series, Pakistan defeated South Africa by three wickets at Paarl, last night. Batting first, South Africa scored 239 runs for the loss of nine wickets in fifty overs. In reply, Pakistan achieved the target in 49.3 overs. Pakistan lead the series 1-0.

South Africa has unveiled a 16-player squad for their upcoming two-Test series against Pakistan, featuring two uncapped fast bowlers, Kwena Maphaka and Corbin Bosch. Injuries to key players like Anrich Nortje and Lizaad Williams necessitated these additions.

South Africa included all-rounder Wiaan Mulder and left-arm spin bowler Keshav Maharaj in the squad, but both selections are subject to fitness.
